do i need air pump to airate the water if i have 2 hob filter with good surface movement?

air pumps put little if any air into the water it causes circulation and breaks the surface tension which allows for gas exchange

how big is said tank and have you thought of a powerhead if you are contemplating more water movement..........

they're not usually necessary, but sometimes useful.
If you're going to use one, add a sponge filter for biological filtration

i have a 55 gal tank 11-2-4 in peacock cichlids ( non pbass), 1-8 in placo, 2-3 in clown loaches

i have the ehiem ecco canister for a 60 gal, 1 ac 200, for a 50 gal, and a tetra whisper i think for a 55 gal.

new question i think the fish need the air but i hate rthe micro bubbles so i added the air ston to the hob whisper and the small bubble get trapped behind the floss and not in the tank. does this still airate the water well?
