you know any air pumps would do
its just upon on how you take care of them....
like me
i bout a 600hz pump
and its been 5 years on me but it doesn't get trash or junk.

luft pumps have a great rep.
if you need more power, the medo linear piston pumps are the way to go.

I have to ask this question as I haven't received a good answer yet...

What about using a 'medical grade' air compressor. I have an older Dental compressor and an external air dryer/filter. It is oil lubed, but I can't detect ANY smell from the air after it has gone through the dryer filter.

I am thinking of tapping off of the line I use in my shop, regulate it down to 5-7PSI, add a new inline filter/seperator for safety factor, then plum into my tanks. This would delete 2 underpowered air pumps and one old broken pump(but the strongest!).

Has anyone ever used such a set up in a LFS enviroment? I am planning on an eventual upgrade to oil-less when the oportunity arrises, but my job revolves around clean dry air to dentists (crowns don't stick to dirty teeth!), I am confident that the air will be fish safe...Just the pressure and flow of the air my pose an issue...The A/C is meant to cycle on and off during the hours, it isn't meant for 100% duty cycle.

Thanks for any comments!

It sounds like you already have the bugs worked out. The second filter after the regulator is a good idea. I was thinking of using a storage tank to allow the oil vapor to condense before going down the line to the first dryer. The vapor will be in incredibly minute amounts; probably undetectable. Set up the system the way you were planning and run it on a small tank or even a pickle jar. If an oil sheen develops, then you'll know there is more work to do. I think you'll be fine though.

Just a thought, you could pump the air through a jar filled with Poly-Fil. The oil will stick to it like there is no tomorrow.

Good thinking on the polyfill, way cheaper and easy to set up!

We deal with steam style sterilizers to-one has a hepa filter for the drying air on it, I have seen where the air pump rotors were grinding itself to dust, one side of the filter was BLACK, the out side was starting to discolor as the media was full! I can use one of these on each line into tank, they are clear so I can monitor if anything gets past the 1st stages of filtering... The filters use 1/4" tubing too, bonus!

Thanks for the inspiration!

Just checked my cost is about $30 per filter...Definitely doing the poly prefilter first...thinking sch80 PVC with threaded caps and a preregulator to dial the pressure down to 7-10PSI...
