Im still kind of new to this.. but I went to a friends house and he has and oscar, like me and he has air stones :nilly: , and he said that they are needed in the tank... i dont have any in my tank but i have a over the back filter unit that has a water fall of an inch or so (it makes bubbles)... should i get an air stone or is that just to make it look "cool"... sorry again for the n00b question :nilly: :nilly: :nilly:

high levels of oxygen are better for fish but if you dont have a big tank the water outlet from the filter will be fine.

One advantage of air stones - the bubbles move a whole lot of water from the bottom to the top of your tank. Even in a good sized tank, a couple of air stones can keep water circulating in areas where the filter doesn't. So can a power head - all a matter of preference, I guess.
