Hello folks,
Can someone give me the run down on how airport to airport shipping works? I have fish coming in at the end of the week from Germany, and I would like to be as prepared as possible. Do I need any type of paperwork? All I have been told is that I will need to pick up the fish at the incoming freight office at the airport. Thanks for any help. :)

go talk to a lfs that brings in fish from overseas.... i would think you need an import license.

for domestic you just go to the airlines freight terminal and pick em up 2 hours after the plane lands ( LAX). if its foreign it must clear customs and you maybe required to have an importers license. When i have brought in foreign fish i have always used a wholesaler with a license,.....

just 2 cents i am not an expert

Like John said you will need an import liscense. Either that or if you use a transhipper that will receive the fish for you and then ship to you.

I talked to someone who recently brought in some fish and he told me you do not need an import license to import fish unless you do it on a regular basis. But, you need to schedule an inspection with fish&wildlife at the cargo
facility upon pickup and also need to clear through customs
which is usually close to the cargo facility around the airport. Can anyone confirm this? :nilly:

One last bump for input. Come on Oddball where are you!! :nilly:

I also found this article about importing fish via the airport very interesting:
