Sorry I wasn't sure if this was the right place or if i was supposed to put this in DIY

I was wondering if it would help to put an airstone in the bio part of a sump.

Thanks

from wha i've heard current and water movement is far superior than air stones....and a sump would have a lot of water movement.

but would it help? this tank is seperate frmo all the other oens and the air pump has 2 outlets and im sooo tempted to try it out

try it then lol! i'm no doctor lol

well do a param test now and after and save the vile from the first one and compare to the second one

It can't hurt. As to weather it will help much... hard to say. Bio media is a good thing and with high loads you need a lot. but i think a lot of people worry too much about it. I figure as long and you never see any ammonia or nitrite you have enough bio media.

I am planning on setting up a sump soon, i was thinking about adding an air stone (actaully a felixable bubble wand) to the bio media area because i am planning on having most the media covered with water to maximize my water volume. The air stone should reaise the effiency of the BB so i don't need as much bio media.
