hey is puttin the airstone in the sump have the same effects as putting it in the tank??

I think it will serve the same purpose and add extra oxygen for the BB. Although I am not sure "extra" air is necessary for the BB. It would streamline the system more.

If you had a wet/dry sump, and or a sump with lots of trickling water there is absolutely no need for a air stone. Although, come power cut time, then you may require one.
