My albino sen has been breathing heavily since yesterday. Sensed her abnormal behavior during feeding time, she was in front of her favorite Hikari pellets, but decided to swim away.
Right now she's kind of floating her way to the top for air intake. Chances are that she won't be able to pull through, but I wanted to know what happened to her. Hope the veterans can pinpoint the reason behind her demise. Please advise and thank you. My tank still houses another 3 albino and 3 regular sens.

Note: She's still breathing when the shot was taken, just that her body was kinda stuck between the driftwood and the glass tank.

can you post full pic of the tank to see what's inside, abit hard to see whats going on, it could be bacterial infections, what is your water change schedules? I would quarantine the sen, give enough filtration, bump the temp, and drop the water level making the sen easier to go up for air.

My first Sen had the same issue but didn't make it. Turns out he did have a red mark a inch from his anal fin. After his death I took a closer look and turned out he snacked on a piece of gravel, now I use bare bottomed tanks..

Looks like the work of bacteria to me

Sorry I'm at my workplace now, haven't got the chance to take a snapshot of my tank.

Basically it's a 2ft grow-out tank for my bichirs running on Gex Hang-On Filter Size M. Temp is around 22-24 with a hang-on fan. I didn't check for water parameters though. Substrate wise I'm using Gex shrimp soil. The rest of my bichirs are behaving normal. I'm guessing that this is an isolated case.

My bichir died yesterday. The red streaks on its belly became very obvious. It's anus was exuding red thick blood when I removed the carcass. I'm thinking some form of internal haemorrhage in the bichir. A case of indigestion? :(

Staple source of feed would be Hikari carnivore pellets, but I've bought them some guppy feeders for a weekend treat a week back ago.
