Hi all! ^^

I was at a fish farm and saw these bichirs and fell in love with them. I bought 2 of them 2 inches long each.

I keep them in a 2 ft tank with filter. Some questions I will like to ask...

1) I hardly see my bichirs eating... Nocturnal so I prolly wont get to see them eat ever? T_T I read in forums about training them to eat in morning but I keep feeders.
2) Are bichirs more tuned to soft acidic or hard water? The soil I am using now keeps the water midly soft... Will they be alright in it?
3) I currently keep catfish and ghost shrimps in the tank as feeders. How many of them should I keep in a 2ft tank to prevent overcrowding?

I cant think of anymore questions now but any tips and advice for a new bichir owner?

:welcome: to MFK. First off, congrats on the new Polys. Albinos are usually Senegalus species. They are the most active Bichirs and will easily eat whenever food is available. Try getting them on prepared foods like pellets and frozen foods. Albino Senegals are usually smaller than their normal color morphs and seem to grow 8"-10" Your Ghost Shrimp will eventually become food as the Bichir gets bigger. Since they grow 8"-10" a standard 29g tank would be the minimum I would recommend, but a 55g would be best.
