I have 4 mollies and 1 albino channel cat in a tank, the mollies have had ich for about 3 days, I have been treating them with quick cure and a small salt dosage and they seem to be getting better. My only question is why didn't my cat ever get the spots?

Off the top of my head ~

1. Illness always gets the weakest fish first, meaning the mollies were weaker than the cat.

2. Fish being in stress can lead to ICK. Whatever was stressing the mollies was not stressing the cat.

3. You could not see ICK on the cat because he is albino

4. Ick moves faster at warmer temps. The Mollies swim ant the top, the cat at the bottom. It is possible that the bottom of the tank or inside of decor is slightly cooler.

5. the cat is harassing and or attempting to eat the mollies causing them stress contributing to ICK of the mollies, yet the cat is enjoying himself and is not stressed.

Probably the medication. It harms ich during it's free-swimming stage, so it probably never had a chance to attach itself to the catfish.

The catfish will still have it even if you cannot see it. We tend to forget ich can attack gill tissues so most of the parasites could have lodged inside the gills. Better treat everyone affected or suspected to be affected to be safe.

Give another 10 days AFTER ich has disappeared to be sure you eliminate the parasites completely.
