I've heard that the males can often be sterilie. I've been trying to breed them for about a year, and nothing. Well, the other day after I cooled the tank down because my ait conditioning went out and I didn't want them unhappy, I woke up to my two males and females sticking over a hundred eggs to the glass!!! The eggs are still abit new [i believe they take about 3-4 days to change color].

Anyone know if it's likely that I'll get fry or if it's wishful thinking?

Hiya,

There's no reason why you shouldn't get fry from this (and future batches). The reason they spawned is due to the drop in temperature, most breeders achieve this by doing a water change with cooler water than what the tank is currently kept at.

If you have other fish in the tank then you might want to consider moving the eggs to prevent them from being eaten - your choice though!

yeah, i knew that temp change should do the trick, but i've tried manipulating the conditions before to get them to spawn, and of course it works only when i don't purposely try to breed them lol.

so is this just a rumor that albino corys are sterile [the males]?

I know a guy that breeds all types of Cories, He'll actually put ice in the tank until the point you can see the condensation on the side of the tanks, next morning he'll have eggs. He breeds bronze, albino's, peppered, and Sterbai. I picked up 11 (6 bronze and 5 peppered) last night from him.
