All 17 fry made it to the main tank. No bumps or bruises thus far........half went in last week and the other half today. Due to the dark coloring It’s hard to see the little buggers (1.25 to 1.5” long) against the rocks

Update.......8 months old. A few got picked off early on but 10 have made it through. 2 are prominent males that show color all the time. There are a few without egg spots that look exactly like the mother. The rest have egg spots but are still brownish. I am assuming they are less dominant males.

These pics are the more prominent males.

Possibly a female.

The mother got picked off recently. I woke up one morning and found her completely finless. Even her dorsal was chewed up. I separated her out but she didn’t make the day.
Damned mbuna.....I love them and I hate them.

Good job! With that female gone, you should have a good chance of getting some albinos in your next batch

It has been a year and there are still 10. The most prominent of this brood is really pretty.

There are a few males that color up at times but they mostly stay dark and bland.

This guy thought it was feeding time and instantly changed from dark gray/brownish to brightly colored. A few months ago this fish was staying bright like this but he now yields to more prominent male. Only colors up when excited....
