I just saw some albino goldfish for the first time yesterday. Just curious if they have just become recently availible or if they have always been around and just not encountured that often.

Does anybody know?

I don't know but I was wondering the same thing. Because I noticed that I have an albino goldfish in my pond. He is sooo cool. I always just thought he was different colored but now all the others are one color and he is still white. I got a close up look at him and he is albino. Very cool fish.

albinism can intensify over time. They could start out looking normal (almost) and then turn white over time.

Can that also go in reverse? I would hate for mine to not be albino anymore.

we got an albino feeder in last week. should have bought him for the pond!

Another thing, The common gold fish or feeder "commet" also change colors a lot. And it isa not from albinism, but from the unknown genetics. The bloodline is unknown and usually not followed with these fish. So, a commet, that started as an orange "gold fish" could turn white, yellow, gold, or black.

Well that is why I didn't know mine was albino at first. I was waiting for him to turn back to orange like all the others. Then I took a closer look and noticed he was albino. If I can get a picture I will soon. It is getting cold out too so I guess I better hurry that up.

These aren't common feeder fish or commets though, these are telescope eyed goldfish. My LFS has about 50 of them. These are pure white about the size of a large marble with red eyes.

I have just never seen them before and am just wondering if they have just recenlty been developed or have been around but just not in great numbers.
