Hello ? so I have never fallen into the deep end of catfish before only kept your basic pictus, plecos and some Australian native catfish but I'm getting the catfish itch as they say ?

Albino hemibagrus catfish how well do they get along with other bottom dwellers I would like to purchase one but not sure how it will get along with a small motoro stingray 7 inch disc (catfish for sale is 10-11inchs)
Any experiences with this catfish fellow monster fish keepers?

Generally one of the friendlier and easier to keep hemibagrus. Tend to fight just with other hemibagrus.
The obvious applies, in don’t keep it with fish it can fit in its mouth but generally can be kept with many other similarly sized fish.
Would expect it to be fine with rays although my only concern would be that it will require some kind of cave work to call it’s own.

Thanks for the reply I have a nice little hollow drift wood that it should be real cozy in

I don't keep rays but from what I read sooner or later they kill other large bottom dwellers like catfish.

Here is the thread on our guy: https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/posts/7642518
I have put a deposit down on this lil fella as too stunning not to get ?? I'll have to see how he goes if not I have another tank sitting there I could set up (5x2x2 it was gunna be a sump for my plywood build)
I recently came across a guy on YouTube paul stingray was his name and he keeps these fish in with rays, so maybe it's a hit or miss thing? I'm no expert just guessing

I know Paul Stingray, the Aussie guy, we talk on YT.

Regardless, as I stated, don't trust someone who's never kept rays, such as me... but I also said "sooner or later"... Many people keep other large bottom dwellers with rays but almost no one ever reports when their ray stubs a tank mates. The only reason for my belief is that sometimes it is not fatal right away or not on the first stubbing, so peers come to MFK to ask for help with their catfish, whatnot health...

But vids of cohabing abound, I agree. Maybe it can go on for years in best cases of the largest of fish tanks. I pity that peers shy away from showing all sides of their hobby but usually only the glamorous façade entry, while hauling dead bodies out the back door and coming back to the camera with a smile...

Yes I definitely agree rays do tend to stub tank mates sometimes, i picked up the hemibagrus catfish today and he is settling in to his new 210gal (7x2x2) he's currently housed by himself, I have the 5x2x2 cycling just in case of any issues

While it's not the pretty side of the hobby seeing the aftermath of tank mates and fish "mishaps" it does help others learn and try not repeat mistakes
