albino oscar FEDDING

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well it depends on the size of the minnows and the size of the Oscar. If it's a 12"Oscar and she feeds it a rosy red three times a day then it's not really that much. Fish can go up to around two weeks without eating(I would never do that) but you could. I would just make sure it's belly stays full without being distended or looking like it ate so much it's going to burst. If it ever does, just don't feed it for a couple of days.

oh no its a small one its 3-4 inches she feed him minnows from a lake we feed them mosquito larvae to pulmp them up she feeds him 2 a day.

Live feeders should not make up a large portion of your Oscars diet, they are not healthy nor nutritious. Feeders in the store carry disease because of the conditions they are kept in, the wild Minnows you find in your local lake are riddled with various parasites.

If you want a good looking and healthy Oscar switch to pellets, beefheart, earth worms, and other common foods you can find in any fish store.

my male jack dempsey is over 8 inches long and he is only 14 months old he lives with a 6 inch female dempsey and 2 large tinfoil barbs that died months ago. i had them for a very long time

I agree with Vitaly...
The novelty of watching fish in thier natural predatory mode is cool until you think..Gee my fish is probably going to end up sick with who knows ich, Hole in the Head..etc.., Fish in the wild have varied diets, believe it or not they don't just eat fish. Pellets will provide the staple for these fish to be healthy and colorful..supplement with beefheart, bloodworms, earthworm and if you need to watch something die feed it a crayfish, blackworms or earthworms.
Feeders are for rookies...Instead of feeding dogs healthy nutritous dog food I guess we should let them hunt down racoons, birds and squirrels..cuz they will eat it...we'll just hope there food isn't infected with rabies or worms right?
