is grounded walnut shells a good subtrate for my pacman frog.He is burrowed in the subtrate as we speak,it seemed like a loose subtrate, and i know how much they like to burrow so i got some.

i will have pics up soon.also is calcium dusted prey, good for this frog species,or is it not really needed?

good old top soil works good too.

on my frogs when ever i feed i always dust with a calicium/dc powder. i do this with all insects fed.

i would get him out of that NOW.
A pacman WILL get impacted off of it. Its probibly too sharp anyway.
Just use wet paper towels until you can get new substrate.

Good substrates: moist paper towels, coconut fiber, peat or just a thin layer of water. Wallnut is one of the worst substrates:grinno:

L_C did you research this animal first before purchasing it and this horrid substrate? Please use care sheets over what the Petco employees tell you. A simple search should of told you that walnut shells is the WORSE substrate you could ever use.

I think the only animals that possibly be ok whit wallnut would be something like stick insects and praying mantis:confused:

I would keep L_C on walnut shells.

And if you are going to use soil, do NOT use potting soil with the white balls in it AGAIN.
