Does anybody know if albino pacu's get to be the same size as the regular ones? Have they been around long enough to see some adult sizes? I was thinking of grabbing a few to go with my rays as any of the other Characins just get ate up by my rays.

they grow slower i heard. biggest I've seen in taiwan was around 13-15 inch. they can be kept together without any problems. they eat a lot though!

I have one. I can agree that they do grow slower. A LOT slower.
My guy right now is 5-6'. Had him since he was the size of a penny back in March. Kept him with regular pacus, the regular pacus are now 12'' and gone.

I just heard from a guy that said his albino pacu grew from a quarter size to 10" in 3 months. Now I call that insane! Maybe they will get huge like the red belly and black. Now maybe that is a little to big to be keeping those in my 520 as I would also like to put my Asian aro, armatus, red shoulder severums, flagtails.pbass and stingrays in the tank.

I tried one with my rays several months ago. They grow just as fast as normal pacu and have the same behavior. He started biting at the rays so I had to sell him.

Thanks for the tip! I think they are best avoided for now! Not worth taking a chance on my rays getting bit as they have priority. I have enough fish already and don't really need anymore but it's like an addiction you just can't shake!

This is exactly what I would predict to happen.

There aren't many logical reasons (from a Biology stand point) for an albino to grow slower or act any different.

These do grow as big as the other pacus and once big I see just about everybody selling them off just like the fate in store for most pacus when they get to big. Sometimes I even see them going for FREE.
