Hey I was wondering if anyone had an eye for determine the sex of these Albino Red Heads. I’ve had them for about 2 months and am just curious. First 2 pictures are the bigger one. Second 2 are the smaller one. Last picture is both of them. The bigger ones probably around 6 inches. Smaller one is closer to 4 inches

“Looks” like M/F by body shape & finnage
Thank you. Does the bigger one look like the male or female to you? I always assumed the big one was male. But trying to read into ways to determine sex. I saw the slope of the head is an indication. And based on that maybe the big one’s a female and smaller one’s the male?

Yea I’d guess the bigger to be the male. The head shape is distinctly different, and dorsal point is not an absolute, but is distinctly different to the squared off dorsal in the smaller one 🤙🏼
You also have other tapajos in the tank, so if you’re hoping to pair the albino, that may or may not happen in the presence of the non-albino opposite sexes in the mix 🤔

2 males according to tube pics, body shape, head shape, fin size means next to nothing if the fish isnt dominant…

Okay good to know. Thanks for the info! Doesn’t really matter if I get a breeding pair. Figured it would be cool but not overly concerned about it. I almost wonder if the are either blind or partially blind. While they are big and healthy looking. They don’t seem to eat the best. I’ll drop some blood worms in the tank and every fish in the tank will be up at the top going nuts and these guys will be cruising around the bottom lookin for scraps

Albino fish are very light sensitive. Bright lights will reduce their ability to see well. Dim lights on the other hand enhance their ability to see 🤙🏼
