Someone on the forums mentioned that albino senegals get a bit smaller than the normal ones. Is this true?

I've heard the same thing but my experiences don't bear that out. My albino P. senegalus seem to grow at the same rate as their 'normal' tankmates and will likely reach the same adult size.

When looking at albinos for sale, you can get a good vibe of what their genes are like, by focusing on the subtleties of their body shape.

If the body is long and slender, then it should grow to normal size. If they have a stout shape, they have genes in them that won't allow them to grow to full size.

I've noticed that a lot of albino sens here in SoCal seem to be 'semi-SB' and have a stout shape, and get fat, but not long.

My current albino sen seems to have stopped growing at about 6.5".

most if not all albino senegals i have seen have seemed to completely stop growing altogether at around 9-10". i'm sure there are a few that reach 12" like they should, but i myself haven't seen one.

Mine dont seem to grow any bigger than what they are at right now which is around 6in, they only get big around the belly.

i'm sure its growth has just dropped off, it should get to atleast 8" if it isn't SB

How long have yours been at 6" Rex? Sounds like yours are just like mine. It's been about 6" for almost a year now.

My albino is about 7 inches and still growing......

what ive heard is that non-albinos grow to 12" but albinos only get to 10".
