Albino Senegalus Less Hardy?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry for your loss :( I've only had mine a couple of weeks so I can't say, but I definately hope not...

i bought a small one and it has grown to about 5 inches pretty quickly, but i lost like 5 little endlis from the same place. you would think captive bred fish would be more hardy.

Another one that died. Definitley 10+.

I had one that jumped, sat for hours out of the tank and put him back in and still living today.. so don't think so..

I'd look to other issues. I.E. is there a common size involved here? diet? etc..

IME, no that are not less hardy. mine went from 4" to 7" in like 3 months, while the regular senny i bought at the same time wen from 4"-about 5.5" in 2 then was found dead stuck to the filter.

I had one that died at 5" There wasn't any indication. It was fine when I left the house in the morning and got back late at night and it was on the bottom upside down :(

i have had 6 or 7 albinos, and i don't remember how the earlier ones died (other than the one that got eaten by a gar). But I know the last three or four i had all died a mysterious death. Most of these i had for a good several years, and one of them got to 10", and the other ~8", the rest smaller. Anyway, one after another they would lose balance and couldn't stay upright and spiral when they tried to swim. This would happen out of the blue for every single one of them, and within a week or two, they would die.

anyway i really wasn't expecting this to happen to the 10"er. For the ones that were 'runts', i could chalk it up to weaker genes. But certainly not the case for the big one (or even the 8"er). On the other hand, the 10"er was kinda obese, and i wonder if that might have something to do with it, although the 8"er definitely had a healthy weight.

in short, i have no clue what happened, only that i'm now down to 0 albino.
