Hey guys. i've kept my 2 albiono senegulas bichirs for about 5 months now. they are only about 4 inches (if not even 4 inches)! around 4 days ago, i noticed that both of my bichirs were always on the surface of the water even if the filter is on. i'm pretty sure it not for oxygen. My tank looks pretty healthy and clean. for around 4 days straight, the bichirs always hang out on the surface oif the tank and rarely if even swims to the bottom. yesterday, I finally saw my fatter bichir swim to the bottom of the tank like normal. The thing is my smaller, thin bichir still floats to the surface with his stomach aqwardly drooping and his head and tail floating. if i ever shoo that bichir down (only did it once) he would swim "fine' only with his tail trying to float up. once bichir (with the bladder "problem") is on the bottom of the tank, his tail always floats so he has to swim to the surface (only saw it when i shoo him to the bottom). My other fatter bichir seems fine. It just that my fatter bichir like to stay with his 'sick' friend (I think). Does my skinnier bichir have a swim bladder problem 9i'm almost certain he does). why does he have it??? Cerrently my swim bladder disordered bichir has paracites in his stomach could it the paracites doing this damage? IS IT THAT THE PARACITES PUNCTURED MY POOR FISH'S BLADDER? also, I have silica sand as a substrate for my tank. could it be that my fish swallowed some it it cut his swim bladder?
What in the world happened!!! can this a swim bladder problem heal??? currently, my paracite infected bichir is on medicine to kill the paracited instead. don't want my bichir to suffer anymore. Need help ASAP!!!
