I just picked up this little beauty a few hours ago from a miami fish farm:

Based on the vents, I think it is a male. I plan on breeding him to my female Everglades oscar "Fugly"

(first photo is from Aquamojo, the second is my own photo.)

otherwise, if it is a female, i'll pair it up with a rescued oscar I recently adopted who was named by the previous owner "Dereck"

I would rather breed the veil to Fugly more than to Dereck, but it depends on whether it's a male or a female. Like I said, I'm leaning more towards male!

I'll update when the veil and Fugly are in their permanent 80 gallon Bowfront tank. Wish me luck and let me know what you think!

P.S. Fugly was at the last ACA convention and will be at the next one in Denver.

They're all nice but Fugly is a great looking O, good luck with your breeding project.

The veil is growing quick and the rest of the oscars are doing well. Unfortunately the 80 gallon isn't set up yet, so this is mainly a bump...

Finally got around to updating... The small veil passed a few months back, so I started looking for another.

Now I have my 80 gallon set up and both oscars together! Here's the updated pics:
