ok some think to ask you guys.
i have a albino polypterus and only had him for about 4week,he seem to be fine eatin loads of mussel's plus getting bigger.
this morning i had a look in the tank to cheeck every think was ok and there was a dead half eaten fish at the bottem,couldnt make out which one it was,taking in mind the daed fish was big,bigger than the head of the albino anyway.
anyway the albino came along and had the lot,it was so fast it just had it.
our albino has never touched any of our fish and was woundering if this is the start of him slowly eating them one by one and could it of been the albino which had it in the night.
i know it sounds bad but it looked pretty cool the way it just had it.

they will eat things if they will fit in their mouth or if they are hungry enough. mine ate a medium chinese algae eater that wouldnt fit in their mouths, so they just ate the guts out of him and left the skelaton with muscles lying on the bottom. what other things do you have in the tank?

to be honest some of the fish in our tank would not make good tank mates ie more like food than mates.
but he dosnt look that big to eat them but after what i seen this morning then i would say he is.
we have 2 sailfin plecos,2 smaller plecos not sure what thay are tho,1black ghost knife,1catfish about6inch and the rest are small stuff.

sounds like you knew it was coming. in general fish will eat fish if they can. leave a dead fish in a tank and it will be gone within a day or two and they will all have a bit of it. im sure when you researched the poly before you bought it you knew it would eat anything it could fit in its gob though right?

yes i did look up about the poly.the dead fish wasnt in there for a day or more,we are talkin a few hours at night.the poly is well fed with a few mussels a night.

might be looking for other foods lol, if its growing bigger expect something like tjos to happen again

bichirs are little pigs. there was a pic a few months ago of 1 that ate a catfish or goby that was the same size as it i think. can any1 find that pic?
