The total opposite of Monster, but fascinating non the less.
Thanks to Janos Zemplini of Nebraska cichlids for a half dozen of these Tilapines from the inhospitable Soda lakes of Tanzania.

Lake Natron can heat up to over 100F and have a pH of 9-10.

those are awesome, how large do they get?

The males are said to reach almost 5 inches, females smaller. My dominant male is maybe 3 inches, females 1-2" .
They were once in the genus Oreochromis, but given their own (Alcolapia) not too many years ago.
