Hello All,

I have a 60g peacock/hap and a few mbuna tank that has been running for about 4 months. Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, Nitrates between 10-20
My filtration is an Aqua 70 and whisper 60. I have about 40 lbs of lace rock. I noticed that there is some algae growing on the rocks. Not sure if it's normal or there is a problem. I feed my fish once a day. All the fish I have are about 1.5"-2.5".
My questions is do I just let is grow because its on the rocks or do I try to scrub it off or even use chemicals. there is also a little bit on the glass that I wiped off during my last wc (which i do every week 25-30%)

Thank you for your help.

I let it grow, algae is free filtration. I'm actually planning on seeding my new tank with green beard algae in the hopes of covering the substrate.

Awesome!! I just wasnt sure if it was something I was doing wrong.
By the looks of it can you tell what kind of algae it is?

I consider algae on rocks, wood, or anywhere except the front glass my friend.
Fish graze on it (especially fry), it sucks up nitrates, and to me being a scuba diver, looks totally natural. The color of algae at times represents the kind and intensity of light you provide.

the light is very intense in the above tank, not so below.

and like gill blue, I sometimes put objects such as wood branches or rocks out side, in a tank in full sun to help seed algae, that I bring in.
