What is the easiest way of getting rid of algae blooms? My 29 gallon wont stop getting green :irked:

either get a uv filter or keep your aquarium lights off for about a week. the second option helped me get rid of my algae bloom

Whats a UV filter?

So would I need an 8w bulb?

hmm not sure. ive never used a uv before. i just used the keep lights off for a week trick and worked for me. btw is your tank in direct sunlight?

My room has no lights but it pretty much is lit up from the sunlight coming in. Yes it is green water

You can try a blackout, but if its from direct sun it will just come back. A uv filter will zap the green water. Its a unicellular algae bloom. I prefer to add quick growing bog plants (things like anacharis or hornwort) to outcompete the algae. You could also consider blinds in the window and blacking out the back and sides of you tank to limit the sun.

i would just buy some magnet algae cleaners, not expensive and easy to use, only takes a minute or so.
