Just curious what my fellow ray keepers are doing to control algae? My marble destroys all plants and kills any tankmates, but I have some persistent hair algae that pops up, especially on my Driftwood. Any tips for getting rid of this nuisance?

Reducing phosphate will choke it out.

If you're running a sump you can put phos guard or a similar product in your socks to get the phosphate out.

I have a common Pleco in with mine that does fine, he leaves them alone and they leave him alone. pleco is 12-14" and the rays are 10-18".

I also run a low watt UV on a cheap CFS canister filter.

On my smaller tank I used to use a dig algae scrubber in the sump, that did the job and reduced nitrates also.

I did pick up a UV sterilizer, just need to modify the hookups to run in through a fluval 406, planning on adding that, will definitely consider the algae scrubber as well if that doesnt take care of it.
