Some species/individuals may, others won’t. You won’t know until you try it.
Try getting Malaysian trumpet snails, they tend to do the best at not getting eaten.

If your goal is algae control, bristle nose plecos will do better than snails. MTS may be hard to keep from overpopulating...I used to spend hours and hours removing 1000s of them because they clog my filters.

Better by far than even BN is feed less and control light and nitrates.

Higher chance for long term success and less risk of being a pest.
Just make sure it is large enough not to get eaten (5-6 inch mbuna and 1 inch pleco did not work for me lol).
