Hello, I was looking for a algae eater for my bichir tank, currently it is just a lone Delhezi but I would like to get other bichirs and possibly a lungfish later on. With that said I refuse to buy a pleco due to a previous disaster I had with them. I know that many large algae eaters have a tendency to suck off of slime coats. The only plants in the tank is several hornworts floating on the top. Is there any fish that would be good for this? Or should I just not get an algae eater at all?

I've read a few success stories of keeping Bichir with Pleco but I personally won't risk it.
