So I have a sa/ca type setup for the most part and I would like to add some sort of algae eater to keep the wood and rocks clean.

I had a common pleco for a while that was excellent for this but his bio load was out of this world so I traded him.

Is there anything that will fit the bill aside from plecos?

I like bn plecos but I hear they can be risky if the O decides to make a snack out of it.

Flagtail prochilodus, but it will eventually be a 12-14" fish, as big as an oscar. You're essentially looking at a 180g minimum for just the 2 of them. It's usually best not to get a fish to clean the tank up. The extra bio-load just makes it as much work for you with or without it.
