So Ive decided to purchase 4 more fronts to add to my 55, and am planning to upgrade to either a 125 or 180 when it's needed. I've got bad green and brown algae problems though, so I was wondering what you use as an algae eater in your frontosa tanks? What about substrate sifters?

It has been my experience that fronts are quite peaceful so medium size Bristle nose should do fine. If you can find one the rhino pleco grows larger and is good algae eater, Both will clean up any food your fronts don't eat.

I've only ever had a problem when i had a strong over head light. Leave the light off during the day and only use it when you want to view the fish. This will help, and plecos will be a nice addition but, doubt they will get it done. That's my exp however.

Lot of people swear by bristlenose with fronts. I've also kept L001 and L200 (green phantom pleco) with them. Of the two the L200 might be a little better keeping tank clean, but the L001 did a decent job also. In any case, my point is mine got along with them with no problems at all. On rare occasions, I've seen where someone's large front tried to eat a pleco, not good for either one. It's pretty rare from what I've seen, but possible.

Fronts themselves will do some substrate sifting, especially when they're hungry, and if it was me I'd definitely limit the number of fish I'd add with them in a 55, which will be small for them as it is before long.
