I have a 55 gallon Tanganyika Tank... It has various cichlids (Brevis, Cylindercus, Marlieri, rope eel, Yellow lab, Syno Lucipinnis)

I'm looking for an algae eater that will last with these fish and the high pH... Hoping for a small algae eater that gets around 5 inches... or maybe a group of some that only get around 2 inches)

What could be some good ones?

55gal is a tight squeeze... plecs don't really solve algae problems... in a few days when all the algae's gone, you're going to have to substitute his diet with veggies and algae tablets and then he'll just be adding even more waste to the tank. or if

you still think you need a plec then maybe a bristlenose plec? they don't get that big...

The only small alkaline tolerant plec I can think of is Panaque L204, but like neervana said once the algae goes you will have to supply it with a diet of veg, wafers and wood.

Does the Panaque L204 have a common name?

Thats what I was thinking of getting since I know a LFS that just got some in.

I've seen common names for L204 as:
Flash pleco
Emperor pleco
Emperor flash pleco

Wait doesn't the Flash Pleco eat Wood? Since I know I saw one of my LFS has one for 40 dollars which is around 4 inches long.
