Is there any algae eaters (snails or fish) that I can put with my breeding pair to control the algae growth in the tank? It's a 27g tank.

I've got a spotted sailfin plec0 in with about a dozen cons (both sexes). He's taken his lumps over the months but is no worse for the wear. He fights them off & keeps the tank spotless.....really earns his keep. Good looker too:thumbsup:

BN plecos are pretty good algae eaters, and they will stay small enough for your tank. You might wanna check your water parameters though to make sure you don't have an excess of nutrients feeding the algae growth.

Sailfins and "common" plecos get too big for a tank that size, plus they eventually will need to have their diet heavily supplemented with foods besides algae, and they may stop grazing on the algae together, so you'll just end up with extra bioload and another mouth to feed.

Snails are good algae eaters if you get the correct species, but some of them won't make much of a dent.

whats a BN Pleco? Does BN stand for something? Do you know the L# for it? I would like to get a pleco that stays small, and likes grazing on algea.

BN plecs are probably the best choice for anyone who wishes to clear algae in a small tank. Clown plecs can destroy plants, had it done to me several times before.

What about the chinese algea eaters? Any good?

I've found them to be very good. However, rowdy fish such as cichlids tend to beat the pi$$ out of them.
