Hey guys,
I have noticed some algae growth on the stones in my fish tank. How can I get rid of algae without buying a pleco? My rtc and tsn/rtc hybrid will eat any other fish in the tank, or at least kill, so what are my options. Also anyone have live plants to lower nitrates and ammonia?

Take the rocks out and scrub with a wire brush and hot water. To help prevent it have lights on for less time. Live plants will help lower nitrates but lare catfish like that dont realy like to tolerate them IME. your best bet would be to try pothos, which may or may not be tolerated by the catfish

Maybe u can see it in the video. The algae is like dark green or black. The cats have light all during the day. Does fluorescent grow algae faster than led?

I heard some people buy some Home Depot plant that goes on top of the tank and lowers nitrates.

I think if you cut the light substantially or completely (if there is some ambient room light), the algae should go away. I never had any lights on any of my tanks except dim lights for my basement pond. Fluorescent or LED - don't matter AFAIK for your situation.

Yes, that's the pothos vine that was mentioned. Peace lily is another good one to try.
