This algae has started growing in the past few weeks and now has gotten to a point where i need to scrub it off every 4 or so days. Is there anything i can do to stop it from growing at all or at least as rapidly. Or a fish i could get to control it.

Sorry for the horrible pic, was experimenting with the camera...

If it is in the 75, there are a few options for organisms to get rid of the algae. It is due to one of two problems, weak lighting, or silicates. The sand you have likely is your source of high silicates. Intensifying the lighting will get rid of it.

Yeah, the lighting is fairly weak and thankfully i was planing to going to home depot this weekend so ill grab a better one. Thanks for the help!

As far as the camera, try the macro mode (usually the flower icon). Bet it comes out better.

One other option for your algae problem is to lower fert doses (if your dosing).
Brown algae isn't generally caused by general fert dosing, as more aggressive forms of algae would grow in choking off the brown algae. The two common causes are silicates, and inadequate lighting.
