Algae on sword.

A few of the leaves on my amazon sword are infested with algae and appear to be dying. Should I trim them off or leave them for my Oto's to feed on?

I think you shall trim off the leaves. How is the lightning in your tank? Fertilizer/nutriment for the plants? Swords grow better with fertilizer in the substrate.

Yea they do do much better in a fertile substrate like lava rock.

The sword is growing very well. Just a couple of leaves have this problem. I use no fertilizer and lighting is 1w/ gal. Should i use fert? I really don't wan't to add nitro to the water.

like Hakon said if the leaves are dead cut them of
as far as the algae if you want to get rid of it you need to id it 1st

2-3 day blackouts work pretty good for most

yeah you're probably just leaving your light on for too long. I keep mine on for 8-10 hrs for my planted tank
