for the past 6 months I have had almost no algae in my tank. just recently i added a bunch of large rocks that were in a former aquarium a few years back 1 day after this I noticed algae growth and a good amount of it . my question is does it work like that can you get algae from adding in certain foreign objects to your aquarium. Sorry if I sound like a big noob lol

There are algae spores in the air and in water. There could also have been algae spores on the rocks you put in your aquarium. Algae needs nutrients and light in order to grow. To control algae you need to control the amount of nutrients in your tank (water changes) and limit the amount of light the tank receives.
