Hello, I seem to be having an algae outbreak in my tank. I removed the live plants from my 114gal. predator tank about one month ago because I noticed a increase in algae production after I added the live plants. Is there a product that I can use to remove the algae infestation for good? Also, I have been using the dreaded API aquarium salt and I am assuming to think this maybe causing a issue as well.

probably but i hate chemical use, and chemicals won't get rid of it for good! Best way for me is to get rid if its food and or source like light. Get rid of that and all your algae would go away. Or get a pleco. You could try chemical use if you are really desperate, but it will come back and you will have to use it again, and chemicals can also sometimes kill needed bacteria in your tank so try to stay away from it as much as possible. Get a filter feeder, pleco, snail, or a herbivore fish.

chemicals will not get rid of your ammonia, is your tank cycled, or is this a minicycle? photoperiod refers to how long you keep your lights on, if your lights are on for more than 8 hours you should lower the amount of time your lights are on.
