What would you recommend to use in a pond where it is in a full algae bloom. My lures don't get any action because the second I start reeling in it hits algae. Any suggestions on what kind of lure I can use to avoid this? We have only caught 2 fish in this pond so far which were a 12" LMB and an 8" pumpkinseed. Any help would be appreciated! :)

Use a popper, frog or mouse, but get them in native colors to your area. You need to break the surface and make noise as vision is impaired by the green water, this is working for us in Northern Illinois right now as even our rivers are full of algae(no rain,no clouds, no break from intense heat less the past 12 days) If you have a seine net, you can collect native live bait and they will readily accept this.

Whats it like under the surface? real weedy?

Yeah there's a bunch of duckweed and algae on the top and everytime I start to jig the lure it gets covered in algae and loses its movement.. It gets really annoying but I got a top water frog so hopefully that will work

If its been HOT over there and no rain like here, you gotta use live bait and run it deep to get past that, the fish really dont hang out in there well the ones you are going after anyways.

Try the frog, it might be enough to get their attention, you will have nothing but bottom and rear lure strikes though and its gonna be a heavy hit when it does hit.

Im thinking of tossing the waders on(3.5 neoprene and its gonna be 95 degrees today so not sure if I want to dehydrate or not)and hitting the river for some smallies in the creek mouths.
