I recently had an outbreak of algae in my 72 gallon bowfront and I can't seem to get it under control. There's some green stringy looking algae growing on the glass as well as growing on the driftwood in the tank. I've tried everything from keeping the light on only 6-8 hours per day, to doing 2-3 30-40% water changes per week, to feeding less, to scraping it off, but still the algae will not cease!
Tank inhabitants include a 2.5" GT, 2" JD, seven zebra danios, 1.5" flying fox, 3" albino bristlenose and a 3" sailfin pleco. Water temp is 80*, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, nitrates between 5-10 ppm, ph is 7. Filtration includes an Eheim 2217 and an AC 70. As previously stated, I have some driftwood in there along with some amazon swords and a couple other plants. Substrate is Super Naturals sand.
If anybody has any idea as to what I may be doing wrong or how I can stop this menace, please, speak up because it's driving me insane!
