Algae is some Algae bad or sign of poor water condition

I have green, brown, and a green so dark it looks black. I do water changes every week about 50% give and take 20 % this is going on in my 125

Thought I should ad this I have 5, 4FT LIGHTS ON IT

Algae is not a sign of poor water quality, just to much light and nutrients.

wELL THAT WOULD = TO HIGH NITRATE

No it wouldn't, your doing 50 % water changes weekly, and to have that many plants for the need of 5 lights they would absorb the nitrates anyway, and if you don't have plants 5 lights is just a waste of money and power.

Having algae or not is a personal preferance. In some tanks it is needed, yet in others it can be quite a nuisance. Such circumstances are in Loricarrid set-ups, as in ancistrus species, algae is quite a good thing to be growing to allow for a constant supply of grazing material.
