ALGAE!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah. I would just use a floating magnet algae cleaner or if you're tank allows an algae eating fish. Or increase the time you put keep the light on to 8 hours each day.

Definitely no CAE... They dont really eat algae as they grow, and have tendencies to suck on a fishes slime coat...

Manual removal using a old credit card, mag float or some other tool is your best bet... Fish could potentially just add to the problems in the long run...

When I use a razor blade type scraper it comes off in big sheets. Is it harmful?

Just take it out the water and dump it... Its in your tank already... So shouldnt be harmful or your fish would let you know...

Algae is normal and natural.. depending on your water perameters you may try doing more water changes, ime algae tends to build up in either high light areas or high nutrient water ( ie high nitrates) Otherwise it's safe and harmless and can even be helpfull to your tank, personally I only algae scrape the front of my tanks that get it and leave the sides and back to grow as they please. You may also try adding pothos to your filter the plant will often out compete algae for nutrients. and manually removing any algae you do scrape off is ideal mainly so it doesn't stuff up your filter.
