what kind of algea eater can i add to a goldfish tank? setting up a 54corner aquarium for the kids to pick out their own goldfish and get more involved in the hobby, and need a good algea eater.

Eh get a common pleco. In tons of asian restraunts they ahve a random pleco with goldfish. as long as the water quality is good then It should be ok. though the gold fish will have to be a little warmed up.

A good algae brush. All algae-eaters just add to the bioload. Goldfish are messy as it is, and you wouldn't want to make the tank more work. Just get one of those algae brushes that cling on with magnets. Plus, pleco have a bad habit of taking a liking to goldfish slime coats.

If you're stuck on a pleco a bristlenose might work. I have two little ones (1.5 inches) in my 125 with the goldfish and they keep it super clean without adding a ton of bio-load. I think they are more scared of the goldfish actually, and they do fine if you keep it above 66 degrees.
