I have had this red devil for he last year or so. His tank over the last serveral months have gotten this borwn algea in it. I clean it and it goes away for like a month, then comes back. Well i thought i got rid of it for good finally untill ive been gettin all this green algea every few weeks. It really easy to clean but i was wondering if it was normal to have this happen? My water quality seems to be fine when i test it.

you either have phosphates or u leave ur lights on to long...

get a ferric oxide or hydroxide based phosphat remover and use according to the directions if you starve your tank of phosphates you will greatly reduce the chance of ever having algae as phosphates are a major food source for the algae
