hi all , is there anything i can do or buy to get rid of brown algea that my tank wallls and gravell is developing , i hate to clean that stuff every day , i know the lights on my tank are strong but there has to be something i can use to prevent it without killing my aro and snails

deserve yes
look for some algae remove medicine, that's what I use to do.
or put some more plecos.

I have nasty brown algea problems aswell. I get mines from direct sunlight but it makes my jar look sweet. I dont mind the brown algea as I can use this as an excuse to do waterchanges every 3-4 days. Watta bout a UV sterilizer.

Flagtails work the best in my experience, along with a UV sterilizer. The flagtail keeps my aro tank cleaner then any pleco ever has.

Would help if you can reduce the usage of your tank lights too.

I would be careful with chemical algae removers. Just reduce your lighting; from my own exp w/jar, find that they don't like strong lighting. good thing w/algae is they will help keep nitrates down. Add some fish that love eating algae like plecs. Can't comment on flag tail never had them. Personally, i find plecs really great at keeping algae under control though.

if a flagtail will suit you, get one. they are awesome fish. i'm currently looking for one.

well i have strong light but i only use them when am home .for an hour tops
ill get some small oto or plecos .

i have a UV lamp on my salt water tank but it dont help with the algea problem at all , only my yellow and blue tangs take care of the algea
