I have a GSP Puffer. The tank is at 1.004 and he is at 2.5".
There is good algae buildup on the rock work and on back glass.
I have seen that algae is a bad thing in a marine system and got me thinking that when the Puffer is full grown and in a SP 1.022 that that is a marine tank and the algae growth may be a bad thing.
I would love to hear what you have to say.:D

Algae is harmless in an aquarium, it will only cause you aquairum to look bad. However, if large amounts algae are present in your aquarium, it may be due to bad placement, poor water quality or excess amounts of phosphates.

Not that this has anything to do with your post but your puffer should be at ~1.010.

Not that I doubt you, as I have found that you are the go to guy for Puffer info. This is the site that I was going off of from the start....

I know now that your site and info is the top of the food chain and all the advice that I can get from you is like gold. Thank you!
I will start today raising the salt slowely, week by week till I get Pete to the level he need be. Thanks again. Jay

BlackShark11k - The algae is not a mess or anything. If it was in one of my fresh water tank I would love it. But with it being a brack tank that will be a low end marine tank before long it had me wondering if it was a good thing or bad. I don't know of an algae eater that can live with a Puffer or in the salt and I don't really want to use anti-algae treatments unless I have to, this is why I brought up the question. Thanks for the info.

Ummm... that's my article.

Ok, is what you say now or then the best advice?

It's the same. You say your fish are >2"?

It's hard to tell. I say he's 2.5" and the wife thinks he's not quite that big.

I picked up some Oceanic Natural Sea salt Mix last night and will do a water change and add it today.
Thanks, Jay

just make sure you only up the SG .002 at a time so as to not crash your bio filter.
