I opend the box when i was at the store its a 120v.
Im guessing she will be pretty darn loud. But it wouldnt take much to get some cheap sound proofing insulation and make some sort of box around it

are they as energy efficient as regular aquarium pumps?? or they going to rape me in the power bill department?

They are as you say going to have there way with you.
An Allgreen 16000 rated at 4500 GPH @ 0 head uses 320 watts for $ 200
A Reeflo Barracuda Rated @ 4300 GPH @ 0 head uses 225 watts for $ 380
Allgreen doesn't make a head height chart available (I wonder why?) and offers a 1 year warranty.
Reeflo does offer a Head height chart and offers a 3 year warranty.
It's the oldest story in the world. You get what you paid for. You can save $180 up front but you will pay more in the long run to operate the pump.
Not to mention that if the pump dies in one year and one day any theoretical savings just flew out the window.
