Alien Polypterus - Identification

Hi Guys, please help me to identify this poly, this fish have 17 centimeters and and still have small gills! why? What species this fish belong to? He is brown and your head is pointed, same different of my delhezi, he is gray and your head is thick... look the pics. Tks... I need to help of my friends. Thanks

It's also a Polypterus Delhezi. Bichirs vary in size,color,shape,pattern.

Its a del....and as far as the gills one of my cb endlies kept his gills till he was almost a foot.

The straight on front tank shot with the gray del and the one in question shows them to be similar in width and head shape/size is about the same as well but the body is about half.

Yeah this is the tricky photo, to me it looks like he's bending a bit out then back in. Idk I could be wrong, just my opinion.

By the way, your grey/silver delhizi is amazing.. I assume your substrate is close to his color?... I need to look into this

Love the brown colouration,seems like lighter gold to me from afar.
