Aligator gar help!

just put a new aligator gar in my tank today, about 12inches, i let him adjust, released him and he was cool for a minute, but hes been lying on the bottom of the tank now for 20 min, anything i can do??? my last aligator gar didnt do this, please help

I would leave the light off let him adjust to his new environment .... don't forget every gar is different some adjust quick and some take time

it almost seems like hes gasping though, its slowed down now but still hasent moved a millemeter in an hour now

do you still have him in with leps? if so, separate those fishes immediately. the fish is just probably a little stressed and adjusting to his new home and will be fine in a couple hours. again, adjust for the previous tankmates or you'll be dealing with the same issue again--
