In this case no one is being unreasonable, gater far reach over 3 Feet in home aquaria. A gator gar could live in that tank for a couple months, until 12 to 15 inches max. ( heck, you can, of course, do what you want ) all the above is meant as good intended advice by guys who know what they are talking about.
