ALL FISH DEAD

First, to all of the decent women on the board, I apologize in advance if you take this the wrong way. I do not mean the following comments as a blanket statement of all women.

Since you seem to be gone often and for days at a time, I am thinking that something may be amiss in paradise. I am speaking from experience due to my last girlfriend (she was like a door knob). She had a group of friends that I never met but would only hear about. Some would come to the house when I was at work, yet I never met them…I saw the signs but chose to ignore them. My girlfriend would never leave me, and out of resentment, her “friends” did me some really nice favors…like giving me a $300 phone bill to some psychics that kept on billing three months after I gave her the boot…and the one I love the most, the guy that stole half of the stuff from my garage WITH MY GIRLFRIENDS CONSENT. She wasn’t mad at me in the least. It is just that I was employed and she was not. That and I couldn’t make her scream my name when I was gone (though everyone else could). Ok, so you get the idea. Now let me tell you about the guy that peed in another guys fish tank…jumping out and dead in minutes.

O M G

:screwy: :screwy: :screwy:

If that happened to you and your still ok, what could possibly have happened to euwwworm ?

it would either be droplets from chemicals or water...you might not be affected but animals are different. ;) careful and investigate to avoid problems in the future.:)

Be aware that most waterworks in the US now sanitize tap water with chloramine, which is a mixture of chlorine and ammonia

Ammonia enters water from fertilizer runoff, leaching septic tanks, and erosion of natural deposits; it is also used as disinfectant and in numerous industrial processes.

BUT

in a mature tank, there are usually enough ammonia-converting bacteria. When the tank is cycled and a water change is carried out regularily it should keep it in cheque

Did you do a water test on the tank after all this happened? have you found the filter/filters blocked? and had you done any work on the tank or filter before?

And How's the dog?

last of all dont let her cook you dinner:D

Hi again , the dog is fine now after sugery & $1,200.00 later. & Idid test the water afterwards & the amonia & nitrites were of the charts. I drained the tank & flushed it a few times over a couple of days & Has been running now for over a week & the amonia droped within A day or two telling me that my bio filtration is still established even after soaking & rinsing. the first time it took a month for the amonia to drop . I threw some gold fish in their and have been fine . So nothing wrong was found just amonia & nitrite spike So my conclusion is the feederes were puked up.

Why would she poison them and then promptly call you. .

k, she was reckless, she wasnt even sure if she cleaned in there if the fish would even notice, shes not a serial killer, she kind of has a heart, or she thought they would drop dead like a fly huffin RAID, but they didnt, they started to die slowy, freaking out, trying to leap out of the cage, gulpin for O2, suffering like a lumberjack watching oprah, either way whats done is done, just dont assume that cause she has breasts shes not capable of killing her mates best friends.

Did the heater go bad?
They can explode or throw out current and electrocute the fish.

Not likely; I have lost heaters before & not the fish. unless you have a ground wire & the fish grab hold.

I really doubt it was oscar puke, such a big tank and such hardy fish it would take quite a bit of vomit to do something like that.....
:iagree:

Think about that day & the days before.... did you add anything to the tank (other than feeders)? perhaps new decor? new hardware?

Was there any work going on in the yard/area that could have caused polutants?
Ask the GF to think of things. Spill anything near/in the tank/filter/pump?
could the dog access the tank puke urine etc.?

Any other pets?

Set out any rat poison lately?
